Do new things
I’m not going to pretend like I’m a brain expert, but I’d be willing to bet a million dollars that doing things we’re bad at is good for us.
1️⃣ If you only do things you’re good at for the rest of your life, won’t you get bored?
2️⃣ If you’re bored with the vast amount of treasures the world has to offer, aren’t you just being purposefully ignorant?
3️⃣ Does being purposefully ignorant shorten your lifespan? Maybe!
I mean, come on! Yes, we’ve got the science to show that doing things we’re not good at helps build new neurons in the brain: a hugely important and valid reason to pick up karate or painting.
“it’s damn good for our brain health, too”
But even more than that, what’s the point of life if you’re not interested in the tiny magnificent facets the world can offer?
What a gift that discovering, experiencing, and practicing new things gives our soul.
And the cherry on top is that it’s damn good for our brain health, too.
